Livestock Meat

13 Jan 2025

In the past, our company and the broader Somali community faced significant challenges related to
meat safety due to the lack of comprehensive meat safety laws, inadequate practices in handling
meat, poor sanitation conditions, weaknesses in the regulatory framework, and limited education
and financial resources for those involved in meat handling at local slaughterhouses.

Somali Livestock Company raises animals that are slaughtered and sold to the local Somali com-
munity. Today, we own and operate a well-equipped and functional slaughterhouse that provides
essential services to our local meat industry.

Over time, Somali Livestock Company has taken proactive steps to assess the knowledge and at-
titudes of meat hygiene among our butchers, slaughterhouse workers, and general meat traders.
This assessment helps us understand the meat hygiene practices adopted during their work. Our
staff has been thoroughly trained on health protocols and basic meat handling procedures to en-
sure the safety and quality of the meat we produce, meeting the highest standards.
